Maytapi alternative: how Threadwire compares
Maytapi and Threadwire both link the WhatsApp number you already use and give your system an API to it. Maytapi calls itself an "Unofficial WhatsApp API for Developers", and Threadwire is unofficial too. They differ in what is advised and what is enforced.

Sending safety
Maytapi's advice matches what protects a number: wait a random 30 to 60 seconds, and let people write first. Its site also warns that being reported as spam "a few times (5 - 10) will get you banned". Following that advice is left to your code.
Threadwire turns the same advice into rules. First messages go 30 to 60 seconds apart by themselves, within a daily limit, and slow down, then pause, when WhatsApp warns the number. How Threadwire keeps your number safe has every rule.
